Kazakh government, Singapore's GK Hyperscale Ltd signed $1.5 bln investment agreement to build two data centresThe Government of Kazakhstan and Singapore's GK Hyperscale Ltd have signed an investment agreement for the construction and operation of two hyperscale data centres (DCs), the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic reported.The document was signed at the AlmatyFair.ai exhibition.It is reported that $1.5 billion in investments will be attracted for the construction of Tier 3 data centres. A further $1.2 billion will be invested in the purchase and modernisation of a power plant and the construction of a wind farm and electricity storage system."The data centres will be the foundation for the development of cloud technologies, artificial intelligence and high performance computing (HPC). During the implementation process, more than 360 highly skilled jobs will be created, and the share of Kazakh content will be at least $1.2 billion - the purchase of goods and services from domestic companies," the report says.According to the head of MDDIAI, Zhaslan Madiyev, at least 50% of the data centre's revenues will come from export contracts.Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with the first data centre module coming on stream in 2027.As reported last week, the decree on the construction of these data centres in cooperation with GK Hyperscale Ltd. was signed by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov. Facilities with a total capacity of 200MW will be built in the Akmola and Karaganda regions. It was reported at the time that the first phase of construction would begin in 2027, with commissioning planned for 2030.TSC Global/GK Hyperscale is an international company specialising in the creation of secure digital infrastructures.
