MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY: 198 COMPANIES ESTABLISH FACTORIES IN INDONESIA

Indonesia's Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) Spokesperson, Febri Hendri Antoni Arif, announced that 198 companies are currently building factories in Indonesia, which are expected to create 24,568 jobs. This data, from the National Industrial Information System (SIINas) for January-February 2025, was shared during the presentation of the March 2025 industrial confidence index. Febri highlighted that the ongoing construction of these factories indicates the continued growth and attractiveness of Indonesia's manufacturing sector for investors. Despite recent economic challenges, many investors are still committed to establishing production facilities in the country, which will significantly boost employment. However, the manufacturing industry has faced a wave of layoffs in early 2025, with over 10,000 employees from more than five companies, including PT Sritex Group and PT Sanken Indonesia, being laid off. The reasons for these layoffs include bankruptcies, declining market demand, and relocation of industries. Despite these setbacks, the new factories' development offers a positive outlook for the sector's recovery and growth.Source: https://money.kompas.com/read/2025/03/26/153543126/sebut-198-perusahaan-bangun-pabrik-di-indonesia-kemenperin-serap-24568-tenaga (ICE GIACARTA)
