INDONESIA SUPPORTS SOLAR MODULE INDUSTRY GROWTH FOR ELECTRIFICATION
Indonesia's Ministry of Industry is actively supporting the solar module industry to enhance Indonesia’s renewable energy potential and electrification efforts. According to Solehan, Director of the Machinery and Agricultural Machinery Industry, the government is encouraging investments in solar cell and module production as part of its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. Indonesia currently has 33 solar module manufacturers with a combined annual production capacity of 4.3 GW, with each module capable of generating 720 watts. The rising demand for solar modules is driven by their crucial role in solar power plants (PLTS) and their applications in industrial and residential electricity supply. To further promote the industry, the government has implemented policies favoring domestic products in renewable energy infrastructure procurement. The domestic component level (TKDN) policy ensures that new and renewable energy projects led by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) prioritize local manufacturers. With Indonesia’s target to transition to clean energy by 2060 and the expansion of renewable energy in the Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) by 2030, the demand for renewable energy components is expected to surge. Solehan emphasized that this growing market presents a significant opportunity for domestic industries to maximize their role in the nation’s energy transition.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/349773/electrification-indonesia-backs-solar-module-industry-development?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
