INDONESIA USING SIINAS TO CHECK INDUSTRIAL GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS
Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry has urged domestic manufacturing companies to report their greenhouse gas emissions through the National Industrial Information System (SIINas). This initiative aligns with the country’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060 and aims for the industrial sector to reach this goal by 2050. The directive is backed by Industry Minister’s Circular Letter No. 2025, which facilitates government monitoring and encourages industries to participate in air pollution control efforts. SIINas, a technology-powered integrated system, simplifies emissions reporting for industries while enabling data-driven policymaking. The platform supports initiatives like carbon trading, eco-friendly procurement, and Green Industry Standards (SIH). The Ministry sees this system as a critical tool for shaping more effective environmental policies and promoting sustainable industrial practices. Indonesia's Enhanced Nationally Determined Contribution (ENDC) targets a 31.89% emission reduction independently and 43.20% with international support by 2030. SIINas has been operational since 2016, but challenges remain in ensuring widespread industry adoption and comprehension of the reporting system. The government continues efforts to enhance accessibility and compliance among businesses.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/349697/indonesia-using-siinas-to-check-industrial-greenhouse-gas-emissions (ICE GIACARTA)
