INDONESIAN GOVERNMENT NEEDS IDR503.9 TRILLION FOR POWER PLANTS PER YEAR

The Indonesian government requires an annual investment of US$30.33 billion (IDR503.9 trillion) for electricity generation and transmission across provinces, as outlined in the National Electricity General Plan (RUKN) under the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 85.K/TL.01/MEM.L/2025. The total investment needed until 2060 is estimated at US$1.09 trillion (IDR18,137.8 trillion), covering US$988.8 billion for power plants and US$103.14 billion for transmission networks. The goal is to achieve 443 GW of generation capacity, 34 GW of energy storage, and interconnected transmission networks between provinces and islands. To accommodate rising electricity demand, particularly in Java and Bali, the government plans interconnections between Sumatra-Java (by 2031), Kalimantan-Java (by 2040), and Nusa Tenggara-Java. These interconnections will help maximize renewable energy sources such as geothermal and hydroelectric power in Sumatra and hydropower in Kalimantan, while also balancing the integration of solar and wind power (PLTS & PLTB) until 2060. The Nusa Tenggara-Java and Nusa Tenggara-Sulawesi interconnections will enhance solar energy utilization in Nusa Tenggara and support electricity supply in Sulawesi. By 2060, the Java-Bali electricity system is expected to receive 26.1 TWh from Sumatra, 176.2 TWh from Kalimantan, and 77.6 TWh from Nusa Tenggara. These interconnections will ensure a more balanced and efficient electricity distribution across regions while supporting Indonesia's renewable energy transition.Source: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20250325/44/1864562/pemerintah-butuh-rp5039-triliun-untuk-pembangkit-listrik-per-tahun (ICE GIACARTA)
