Kazakh farmers plan to increase fertilizer use 1.5-fold to 1.9 million tonnes in 2025Kazakhstan plans to increase the volume of fertiliser application to 1.9 million tonnes in 2025, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported.According to the ministry, in 2024 farmers applied more than 1.3 million tonnes of fertiliser to the soil as a result of the introduced mechanism of advance subsidies for mineral fertilisers. In 2025, it is planned to increase the total amount of fertiliser 1.5-fold."It is also planned to achieve this goal by increasing the volume of domestic fertiliser production and providing sufficient financing within the framework of the implemented budget programs," the press release says.To support farmers, 35 billion tenge have been allocated in local budgets for subsidising mineral fertilizers, and another 48.4 billion tenge have been allocated from the state reserve.The mechanism of advance subsidisation of mineral fertilizers was introduced in March 2024. As part of this measure, budget subsidies are transferred in advance to special accounts of domestic enterprises, which allows agricultural producers to purchase fertilisers at a reduced cost.
