GIANT SEA WALL PHASE ONE PROPOSED IN THREE LOCATIONS, INCLUDING JAKARTA

Indonesia's Ministry of Public Works (PU) has identified three locations for the initial phase of the Giant Sea Wall project: Jakarta, the Semarang Harbor Toll Road, and the Semarang-Demak Toll Road. This initiative aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's mandate for a 946 km sea wall extending from Cilegon, Banten, to Gresik, East Java. According to Krisno Yuwono, Head of the Regional Infrastructure Facilitation Center, the Semarang-Demak Toll Road’s second section is complete, while the remaining section, which will incorporate a sea wall, is under construction. In Jakarta, phase A of the sea wall is planned to span 120 km, with 22.8 km already built. Phase B, covering 21 km on the western side, and phase C, stretching 12 km on the eastern side, remain in the preparatory stages. The project aims to fortify coastal defenses against flooding and land subsidence, particularly in Jakarta and surrounding areas. Indonesia's Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, affirmed the government’s commitment to continuing the mega project, emphasizing its crucial role in mitigating environmental risks along Java’s northern coast. The Giant Sea Wall is expected to enhance flood protection and coastal resilience, ensuring long-term sustainability for urban and industrial regions.Source: https://katadata.co.id/ekonomi-hijau/ekonomi-sirkular/67dce7d201880/pembangunan-giant-sea-wall-tahap-pertama-diusulkan-di-3-lokasi-termasuk-jakarta (ICE GIACARTA)
