INDONESIA'S INVESTMENT MINISTRY & TOOLS FOR HUMANITY TO ENHANCE DIGITAL SECTOR
The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming (BKPM) and Tools for Humanity (TFH) have signed an MoU to explore investment opportunities in Indonesia’s digital sector. The collaboration focuses on TFH’s investment in developing and producing Orb, a specialized camera used in the AI-driven digital identity system, World ID. This technology enables identity authentication without storing personal data, enhancing digital security and combating AI-driven cyber threats like deep fakes and identity theft. Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Todotua Pasaribu, emphasized that this partnership aligns with Indonesia’s Digital Vision 2045, which aims to foster an inclusive and innovative digital ecosystem. He highlighted Indonesia’s growing digital economy, projected to reach $130 billion by 2025 and potentially $360 billion by 2030, with investments in AI and digital infrastructure expected to drive national economic growth. TFH’s Chief Legal and Privacy Officer, Damien Kieran, acknowledged Indonesia’s strategic role in Asia’s digital transformation and its potential as a regional tech hub. TFH launched the Orb device in Jakarta in February and plans to explore assembly oppor Fertunities in Indonesia for local and Southeast Asian markets.
