The Addis Ababa Culture, Arts, and Tourism Bureau has highlighted ongoing expansion and renovation projects aimed at strengthening MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism in the capital. Deputy Head Hunde Kebede stated that efforts to enhance tourist destinations and corridor development are reinforcing Addis Ababa’s role as a diplomatic hub and a prime tourist destination, driving increased visitor numbers and economic growth. Over the past six months, Addis Ababa has hosted more than 50 international and continental conferences, reflecting the growing significance of the MICE sector. Infrastructure improvements and destination upgrades, including Entoto Park, Unity Park, the Science Museum, and the newly opened Addis Africa International Convention and Exhibition Center, have boosted the city's appeal. While these developments have significantly improved tourism accessibility and visibility, Hunde emphasized the need for stronger promotional efforts to sustain growth and maximize the sector’s potential.
