RUSSIA-KAZAKHSTAN-CPC-SITUATION
Volume of oil pumping through CPC in March depends on shippers' plans, system can maintain transport at current levels - Russian deputy PMThe volume of oil pumped through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) system in March will primarily depend on the plans of shippers, rather than on restrictions related to the February attack on the Kropotkinskaya pumping station, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told journalists."Currently, the Kropotkinskaya oil-pumping station has halted operations, and work is underway to restore the damaged main assets. A backup line has been launched bypassing Kropotkinskaya. The pumping volumes there are partially lower [than before the attack], but overall it's not critical. [In March], pumping will be at the current volumes. But this is not up to us; it depends on oil production and deliveries from the fields," he said.Earlier on Friday, the Kazakh Energy Ministry said that the country would reduce oil pumping through the CPC 70% in March. As previously reported, one of the CPC oil pumping stations, Kropotkinskaya, was attacked by several drones filled with explosives and metal shrapnel on February 17. The equipment, including that produced by Siemens, was damaged. It is expected that the repair work will take around two months, and the consortium's shareholders are ready to assist in addressing the issues related to the restoration of the station.Oil pumping from Kazakhstan could decrease approximately 30% due to the damage, Transneft (MOEX: TRNF) said. Meanwhile, the Kazakh Energy Ministry said on February 18 that there would be no restrictions on receiving Kazakh oil into the CPC system. Later, Tengizchevroil, the operator of the Tengiz field, said that it continues to supply oil through the CPC without interruptions. The CPC connects the oil fields of western Kazakhstan and Russia on the Caspian shelf to a marine terminal in Novorossiysk. The route spans 1,511 km. The system is the main export route for Kazakh oil, accounting for more than 80% of the volumes pumped through the pipeline from Kazakhstan. Currently, the CPC is capable of transporting around 72.5 million tonnes of oil annually from Kazakhstan and up to 83 million tonnes per year through Russia. In 2024, the consortium transported 63.01 million tonnes of oil through the system, almost 55 million tonnes of which were from Kazakhstan. The shareholders of CPC besides Transneft and Russia include Kazakhstan (represented by KazMunayGas - 19% and Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures LLC - 1.75%) - 20.75%, Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium Company - 15%, Lukoil International GmbH - 12.5%, Mobil Caspian Pipeline Company - 7.5%, Rosneft-Shell Caspian Ventures Limited - 7.5%, BG Overseas Holding Limited - 2%, Eni International N.A. N.V. - 2%, and Oryx Caspian Pipeline LLC - 1.75%. (ICE ALMATY)
