CROATIA: PRODUCER PRICES RISE MONTHLY BY 1.5% IN DECEMBER 2024 BUT CONTINUE Annual Decline

According to the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) data published on 1 January, in December 2024, producer prices of industrial products rose by 1.5% compared to November but fell by 1.4% year-on-year, marking the 15th consecutive month of annual decline, except for December 2023, Croatian media report. Price changes varied across sectors, with significant increases in mining and quarrying (30.9%) and energy supply (3.5%), while energy prices fell by 6.3% on an annual basis.Producer prices of industrial products continued their annual decline for the 15th consecutive month in December 2024, except for December 2023, when they remained unchanged. On the domestic market, prices in December 2024 rose by 2.4% compared to November but were 2.3% lower than in December 2023. On the non-domestic market, prices fell by 0.1% compared to November but increased by 0.3% year-on-year.By industrial grouping (GIG), annual price increases were recorded for non-durable consumer goods (2.3%), capital goods (1.1%), intermediate goods (0.6%), and durable consumer goods (0.4%), while energy prices dropped by 6.3%. On a monthly basis, energy prices rose by 4.6%, intermediate goods prices declined by 0.1%, and prices for capital goods, durable consumer goods, and non-durable consumer goods remained stable.According to the National Classification of Activities (NKD), December 2024 producer prices increased significantly in mining and quarrying (30.9%), in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning (3.5%), and in water supply and related activities (0.2%), while remaining stable in manufacturing. Compared to December 2023, prices rose by 8.6% in mining and quarrying and by 0.3% in manufacturing, while they fell by 7.3% in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, and by 1.4% in water supply and related activities.DZS also notes that this data highlights varied trends across industries, with notable increases in mining and energy supply, but significant energy price reductions annually.
