LITHUANIA TO PROPOSE JOINT POWER PLANT WITH ESTONIA, LATVIA
Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas announced plans to propose a joint power plant project with Latvia and Estonia. The minister indicated it would likely be a gas-fired generation facility, but noted the project is still in early stages. Details about technology and location will be discussed after consulting with Baltic partners. The proposal aims to leverage the common electricity market between the three countries, though previous regional infrastructure projects have faced cooperation challenges, including disagreements over an LNG terminal, submarine cable to Sweden, gas market, and Rail Baltica.
