SHOPPING IN POLAND LESS ATTRACTIVE FOR LITHUANIANS
Bank data shows Lithuanians spent less in Poland during early 2024 compared to previous year. While some still shop in Poland for savings, particularly on excise goods and pharmacy items, the price gap is narrowing.Local shoppers like Robertas from Vilnius still visit Suwałki regularly, spending around 150 euros per trip. Despite rising prices and a stronger zloty, some products remain cheaper than in Lithuania."Card payments in Poland dropped by 15 percent," reports Tadas Povilauskas from SEB Bank. However, cash transactions aren't tracked, and Polish statistics indicate overall Lithuanian spending remained stable at 271 million euros in the first nine months. (ICE VARSAVIA)
