Kazakh government to allocate over 4.8 bln tenge for construction of utility networks in ZhezkazganPrime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov has signed a resolution to provide additional funds for the construction of new utility networks in Zhezkazgan, the administrative center of the Ulytau region, central Kazakhstan, the government press service said in a Friday press release.The administration of the Ulytau region will receive over 4.8 billion tenge from the government reserve for the construction of sewer networks, a water pipeline and a heat supply line to a new area of the western part of Zhezkazgan.After Zhezkazgan became the administrative center of the Ulytau, which was formed on June 8, 2022, the western part of the city has started developing rapidly, including the construction of new residential buildings and social facilities. For instance, a new school for 1,200 students will have been built there by the end of 2024.Urban development in the new area also requires the construction of necessary utility networks, the press release says.Also, replacement of old networks in Zhezkazgan is underway. The wear-and-tear rate of the water supply system, which is over 1,314 km in length, has been reduced from 56.5% to 51.2%; the sewage system (539 km) from 74.6% to 71.2%; and the heat supply lines (639 km) from 60% to 58%, according to the government press service.
