According to NielsenIQ’s data for the 12-month period ended 31 March 2024, beverage sales continued to grow dynamically, with turnover exceeding PLN25bn in 2023. Out of this figure, carbonated soft drinks accounted for PLN7.8bn, having increased by 12 percent, followed by mineral water with PLN7.04bn and 13 percent respectively. A sharp drop was observed in sales of juices and nectars, i.e. by 10 percent, to PLN4.9bn, however, sales of such niche products as ice teas soared by a whopping 30 percent to PLN868m. Meanwhile, the drink industry faces the challenge of complying with the requirements of a deposit-refund system, which is to be rolled out as of 1 January 2025. (ICE VARSAVIA)
