 Kazakhstan will raise about 327 bln tenge through Tariff in Exchange for Investment Program for repairs of power plants The government of Kazakhstan expects that about 327 billion tenge will be attracted through the Tariff in Exchange for Investment Program for repairs and modernization of heat and power plants in the country, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said.“Amendments were introduced [to the Program] in order to increase the investment attractiveness of the energy sector. Under the Tariff in Exchange for Investment Program we expect to attract about 327 billion tenge this year for repairs and modernization of the existing heat and power plants. Raised funds will be used to repair in the first place the most worn-out plants and networks,” Bektenov said at a Friday meeting of the government in Astana.The prime minister ordered the ministries of energy and industry and the local administrations to again assess the condition of the heat and power plants, heat and power networks and to develop additional scope of repair work.Bektenov said that he had signed the previous week a decree allocating 16 billion tenge from the government’s reserve for modernization of the heat and power plants in the cities of Kentau, Ridder and Kyzylorda, as well as 816 million tenge for repairs of the boiler houses in the city of Kokshetau.
