Retail trade in Kazakhstan rises by 5.2% in Jan-AprilRetail trade in Kazakhstan witnessed a 5.2% increase in the period of January to April 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 5.408 trillion tenge, according to the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms.During this period, retail sales of goods by trading enterprises surged by 8.6% from 2023, while sales by individual entrepreneurs saw a 4.5% decline.As of May 1, 2024, the inventory volume of trading enterprises in retail trade stood at 1.554 trillion tenge, equating to 75 days of trading.Food products accounted for 29.1% of total retail trade volume, with non-food products making up the remaining 70.9%.In terms of regional distribution, the cities of Almaty and Astana, the Karaganda, and East Kazakhstan regions accounted for the largest shares in the total retail trade volume in January-April 2024.
