INDONESIA RECORDS US$6.95 BILLION IN FOREIGN CAPITAL INFLOWS

Indonesia recorded foreign capital inflows of IDR126 trillion (approximately US$6.95 billion) into its financial markets between January and October 2026, reflecting continued investor confidence in the country's economy. Suahasil Nazara, Indonesia’s Finance Minister, described the inflows as “healthy” during a briefing to President Prabowo Subianto on recent economic developments. The inflows were largely supported by demand for government securities (SBN) and Bank Indonesia's Rupiah Securities (SRBI), underscoring the attractiveness of Indonesian financial instruments amid global uncertainty. Despite the positive inflow trend, the government is seeking to strengthen the domestic stock market so it can play a larger role in attracting foreign investment alongside bonds and central bank securities. Finance Minister Suahasil emphasized that while portfolio inflows are important, the government's main priority remains attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), which finances productive projects and supports long-term economic growth. The capital inflow figures were discussed during a cabinet meeting that also covered inflation, manufacturing sector performance, and state budget management ahead of year-end.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2869492/indonesia-records-us695-billion-in-foreign-capital-inflows (ICE GIACARTA)
