Astana Motors to roll out its own brand buses in NovAstana Motors will begin producing diesel and gas-powered buses under the Astana brand in November 2026, and plans to start manufacturing electric buses in partnership with China's BYD in 2027, Astana Group chairman Nurlan Smagulov said."We will start producing diesel and gas buses this November. Electric buses have been developed in partnership with BYD and will be equipped with Blade batteries. Production is scheduled to begin in March 2027," Smagulov told a government meeting on Tuesday.He said the buses were developed with Chinese technology partners using components from leading global manufacturers."Kazakh engineers were also involved in the design of these buses. They will be produced at our plant in Kazakhstan. This is a unique brand, and all intellectual property rights will belong to our company," Smagulov said.Astana Motors is a Kazakhstan-based automotive manufacturer and part of the Astana Group. Astana Motors' production divisions include a Hyundai Trans Almaty commercial vehicle plant, a Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan passenger car plant, an Automotive Components Technology Park (producing seats and multimedia systems for vehicles), and Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan (a full-cycle plant in Almaty producing Chery, Changan, and Great Wall Motor (Haval and Tank) passenger cars).
