INDONESIA AIMS TO ATTRACT HIGH END TOURISTS THROUGH BALI MARINA PROJECT

Indonesia is seeking to strengthen Bali’s position as a premier destination for high-value international travelers through the development of a new marina at the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub in Benoa Port. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono highlighted the rapid growth of the global cruise and yacht tourism market, which is expanding by approximately 7.5% annually. While domestic tourism remains strong, the government aims to attract affluent international visitors who are drawn to Bali’s natural attractions, cultural heritage, shopping opportunities, and luxury experiences. According to Yudhoyono, these visitors can generate substantial and sustained economic benefits, as some yacht owners and tourists stay for extended periods and continue spending on local goods and services. To support this strategy, the government is backing the development of the Benoa Port marina, which is scheduled for completion in 2028. The facility will be capable of accommodating up to 188 yachts, including superyachts and megayachts, while the expanded port will be able to receive up to five large cruise ships simultaneously. The project will feature modern docking infrastructure, advanced technology, and upgraded utility services, including water and electricity facilities. In addition, the surrounding area will be developed with entertainment venues, retail centers, green spaces, and public amenities, creating an integrated maritime tourism destination that is expected to boost Bali’s tourism appeal and contribute to the local economy.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/423481/indonesia-aims-to-attract-high-end-tourist-through-bali-marina-project (ICE GIACARTA)
