CORN OUTPUT SOARS 900% AS UKRAINE’S AGRICULTURAL LANDSCAPE SHIFTS
Stanislav Shum, CEO of Top Lead, a company specializing in data analysis and visualization, presented a large-scale overview of the transformation of the Ukrainian grain and oilseed markets over the past 30 years. From 1995 to 2025, the production of key crops grew much faster than the country’s total GDP. In particular, corn production increased by 900%, and wheat by 50%, while barley production decreased by 50%. The greatest change affected oilseeds: Rapeseed and soybeans, which were practically non-existent in Ukraine 30 years ago, saw their production increase by hundreds of times. The expert noted that in 1995 grain production was concentrated mainly in the southern and central regions, and now Podillia and the northern regions have become the production leaders. Oilseed crops migrated from the east to the central and western regions. Among the factors influencing this change are climatic, logistical, and military influences. Along with the growth in volume, the sales vector has also changed. While earlier the key buyers were Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the EU, today the European Union has become an alternative strategic partner. Corn remains the primary crop of Ukrainian agricultural exports.https://ubn.news/corn-production-has-increased-by-900-how-has-the-ukrainian-agricultural-sector-changed-over-the-last-30-years/ (ICE KIEV)
