Indonesia’s defense industry received a boost as Republikorp signed a strategic joint venture with Qatar’s Barzan Holdings to develop advanced defense systems, including light weapons, unmanned surface vessels, and mini-submarines. The agreement was formalized by Republikorp founder Norman Joesoef and Barzan CEO Mohamed Alsadah during meetings involving Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saoud Al Thani. The venture, named Republik Barzan, aims to strengthen Indonesia’s domestic defense capabilities and foster collaboration with international partners. The cooperation also includes military exchanges, joint training, and education programs between Indonesia and Qatar, enhancing technical expertise and bilateral ties.
