INDONESIA'S CERAMICS INDUSTRY PREPARES IDR 25 TRILLION IN INVESTMENT BY 2029
Indonesia’s ceramics industry is set for major expansion, with investment projected to exceed Rp 25 trillion by 2029 as production capacity grows significantly. According to the Indonesian Ceramic Industries Association (ASAKI), installed capacity has risen from 538 million square meters in 2021 to 672 million in 2026, and is expected to reach 728 million by 2029—an overall increase of about 35%. This expansion, driven in part by supportive policies like the Specific Natural Gas Price (HGBT), is expected to add around 190 million square meters of capacity and create over 20,000 new jobs. Despite global challenges such as oversupply and geopolitical uncertainty, Indonesia’s ceramics sector continues to expand while global production capacity declines. Government measures—including mandatory standards (SNI), anti-dumping duties, and safeguards—have strengthened domestic competitiveness and reduced reliance on imports. The added capacity alone will exceed past import volumes, enabling Indonesia to fully meet domestic demand and even attract former importers to invest in local manufacturing. With growing investment and relatively low per capita consumption compared to ASEAN peers, the industry is positioned for further growth and a stronger global presence.Source: https://industri.kontan.co.id/news/industri-keramik-siapkan-investasi-rp-25-triliun-hingga-2029 (ICE GIACARTA)
