INDONESIA'S TRADE MINISTRY PREPARES NEW REGULATIONS FOR NATURAL RESOURCE EXPORTS

The Indonesian Trade Ministry is introducing three new regulations to reform exports of key commodities—crude palm oil (CPO), coal, and ferroalloys—by centralizing all export activities under a state-owned company, PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI). The transition will begin on June 1, 2026, and be implemented in two stages through the end of the year, with full enforcement starting January 1, 2027. During the initial phase (June–August), private exporters can continue operating but must report data through DSI, while in the second phase (September–December), exporters will gradually shift their logistics and operations to the state company. By January 2027, DSI will exclusively handle all exports of the three commodities. The government clarified that existing policies, including Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) requirements, will remain unchanged—only the responsibility will shift from private firms to DSI. This reform aims to strengthen government oversight, improve revenue management, and consolidate national control over strategic natural resources.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/418004/trade-ministry-prepares-new-regulations-for-natural-resource-exports (ICE GIACARTA)
