INDONESIA’S CREATIVE ECONOMY SHOWS STRONG INVESTMENT AND EXPORT GROWTH

Investment in Indonesia’s creative economy reached IDR 11.33 trillion in the first quarter of 2026, while exports totaled USD 7.38 billion, underscoring the sector’s growing importance to the national economy. This sustained upward trend since 2025 reflects increased global demand for Indonesian creative products and services, as well as the sector’s expanding role in driving innovation, job creation, and economic diversification. However, lawmakers stress that strong growth must be matched by a healthy and sustainable ecosystem. Key challenges include rising digital piracy that erodes creators’ income, and persistent labor issues such as low wages, long working hours, and limited job security for creative workers. In addition, the rapid advancement of AI is reshaping industries like design, animation, and digital content production, raising concerns about future job stability. Addressing these issues will require close collaboration between government, industry stakeholders, and creative professionals to ensure both continued growth and the long-term welfare of those in the sector.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2466956/indonesias-creative-economy-shows-strong-investment-and-export-growth (ICE GIACARTA)
