INDONESIAN AIRLINES PUSH FOR ZERO IMPORT TAX ON AIRCRAFT SPARE PARTS
Indonesia’s airline industry, led by the Indonesian National Air Carriers Association (INACA), is urging the government to implement a zero-tax policy on imported aircraft spare parts to reduce operating costs and improve competitiveness. Airlines argue that high maintenance expenses—driven by imported component prices, supply-chain disruptions, and currency fluctuations—continue to strain the sector. INACA chairman Denon Prawiraatmadja emphasized that lowering these costs is critical not only for profitability but also for maintaining strong connectivity across the country’s vast archipelago. The push for tax exemptions has been a long-standing priority for INACA, which has lobbied for such measures for over a decade. The association believes that easing the tax burden would give airlines more flexibility to enhance service quality, strengthen financial performance, and operate more efficiently. Beyond spare parts, INACA is also calling for broader fiscal support to create a more favorable operating environment, stressing that improving competitiveness requires sustained policy efforts to reduce operational pressures on domestic carriers.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/indonesian-airlines-push-for-zero-import-tax-on-aircraft-spare-parts (ICE GIACARTA)
