INDONESIA PUSHES GLOBAL MARKET ACCESS FOR HALAL PRODUCTS
Indonesian Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri is pushing to expand global market access for Indonesian halal products to tap into the rapidly growing global halal economy. The Ministry of Trade is pursuing this through international cooperation and trade agreements, targeting new markets such as Latin America, Africa, and North America. With global demand rising—projected to reach USD 3.2 trillion—the government aims to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a key player. In 2025, Indonesia recorded halal exports of USD 63.42 billion and imports of USD 12.24 billion, generating a strong surplus of USD 51.17 billion. To sustain growth, the government is improving export support through programs like UMKM BISA Ekspor and the Inaexport platform, while encouraging businesses to use export centers and participate in Trade Expo Indonesia 2026. These efforts are supported by stakeholders such as Kadin, which highlights the need for better promotion, halal certification, and stronger collaboration. Overall, Indonesia is focused on increasing exports and boosting the global competitiveness of its halal industry.Source: https://rri.co.id/en/business/2460883/indonesia-pushes-global-market-access-for-halal-products (ICE GIACARTA)
