CABINET APPROVES FRAPORT CONSORTIUM CONCESSION FOR DEVELOPMENT of Kalamata Int'l Airport

A consortium consisting of Fraport AG, Delta Airport Investments SA, and Pileas SA was declared the preferred investor for the 40-year concession of the Kalamata International Airport worth 45.2 million euros in fixed 2025 prices.The competition was handled by Greece's Growthfund. The consortium specifically consists of the following:- German company Fraport AG, with a 51% share in the consortium,- Greek company Delta Airport Investments SA (a subsidiary of the Kopelouzos Group), with a 24.5% share in the consortium, and - Greek company Pileas SA (a subsidiary of the Konstantakopoulos Group), with a 24.5% share in the consortium.The consortium is obligated to invest at least 28.3 million euros in the first three years of the contract. These will include: upgrades and renovations to existing facilities, extension and upgrade of the airport, a new parking space for the aircraft, IT Infrastructure installation, and founding of duty-free and food and beverages shops.Kalamata's International Airport 'Capt Vassilis Konstantakopoulos' is a gateway for air travel to the southern Peloponnese and is considered a key hub in the wider area, where the concession is expected to contribute to further growth and tourism development.
