TRADE MINISTER URGES STRONGER SHRIMP EXPORTS TO SAUDI AFTER BAN LIFT
During an event in Jakarta on Monday (25/5), Trade Minister Budi Santoso conveyed a message to urge Indonesian fishery exporters to intensify exports to Saudi Arabia in response to the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA)'s approval of Indonesia's proposal to reopen export permits for shrimp and shrimp products from Indonesia. The permits had been suspended for around eight months since September 2025 due to raising concerns on contamination by cesium-137 and were restored after Indonesia submitted safety reports on shrimp products and involved multiple government agencies and the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh as part of diplomatic efforts to restore the shrimp trade. To date, Indonesia has 63 fish product companies and 18 processed fish product companies registered with the SFDA.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/416933/trade-minister-urges-stronger-shrimp-exports-to-saudi-after-ban-lift (ICE GIACARTA)
