INDONESIA PREPARES 24,000 HECTARES IN JAVA FOR 100 GW SOLAR PROJECT
The Indonesian government, through the Ministries of Energy (ESDM) and Agrarian Affairs (ATR), has prepared 24,000 hectares of land on Java Island to support an ambitious 100 GW solar power (PLTS) program. This land will undergo joint verification with the state-owned electricity firm (PT PLN) and supporting infrastructure such as transmission lines and substations will be developed. The initial phase focuses on accelerating 17 GW of solar capacity alongside about 33 GW of battery energy storage (BESS), forming part of a broader national effort to advance the energy transition. Overall, the government targets a total solar capacity of around 100.7 GWp, supported by 145.8 GWh of storage, split between large-scale (87.5 GWp) and distributed systems (13.2 GWp) for rural and remote areas. Estimated electricity tariffs range from 5.5–25 US cents per kWh for large-scale projects and 9–40 US cents for smaller systems. The entire program is projected to require about US$71.3 billion in investment, with President Prabowo Subianto aiming to achieve the 100 GW target between 2026 and 2028—an ambitious leap from the current installed capacity of just 1.5 GW.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/417337/indonesia-prepares-24000-hectares-in-java-for-100-gw-solar-project?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=mobile&utm_campaign=latest_category (ICE GIACARTA)
