KAZAKHSTAN-KMG-OUTPUT-Q1

KazMunayGas oil output drops 12% in Q1 on Tengiz fire, CPC restrictionsKazakhstan's state oil and gas company KazMunayGas reported a 12% drop in first-quarter oil and condensate production, citing a transformer fire at the Tengiz field and restrictions on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium system.KMG produced 5.647 million tonnes of oil and gas condensate in January through March 2025, down from the same period a year earlier, the company said in a statement on the Astana International Exchange on Friday.Oil transportation remained broadly flat at 20.761 million tonnes, compared with 20.92 million tonnes in the first quarter of last year."The main reason for the decline in production was a transformer fire at Tengiz in January of this year," the company said.Hydrocarbon processing at KMG's refineries in Kazakhstan and Romania slipped 2.8% to 4.992 million tonnes.Production figures are reported according to KMG's ownership stakes in joint ventures and associates, and at 100% for fully consolidated subsidiaries.Output at Tengiz, one of Kazakhstan's largest fields, tumbled 39.1% to 1.141 million tonnes. Alongside the January fire, the company pointed to restrictions on oil intake into the CPC pipeline system. Production at Tengiz returned to planned levels in March 2026, KMG said.At Karachaganak, production fell 19.2% to 239,000 tonnes, which the company attributed to "unstable oil intake into the CPC system and limited gas offtake by the Orenburg gas processing plant in Russia."Kashagan output edged down 1.3% to 751,000 tonnes, reflecting temporary constraints at CPC offshore loading facilities.KazMunayGas serves as Kazakhstan's national operator for hydrocarbon exploration, production, processing and transportation, representing state interests in the oil and gas sector.
