INDONESIAN GOVERNMENT BETS ON PRIVATE SECTOR TO HIT 6.5% GROWTH IN 2027
Indonesia’s government remains optimistic about achieving its 2027 economic growth target of 5.8% to 6.5%, despite global uncertainties and pressure on the rupiah. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasized that the target is attainable, building on efforts to push growth close to 6% in 2026. President Prabowo Subianto announced the target as part of a broader strategy to reach 8% economic growth by 2029, with expectations that stronger private-sector performance will play a key role in driving expansion. While external challenges such as global market volatility and currency depreciation persist, the government maintains that its projections are based on careful economic calculations. Alongside its growth ambitions, the administration also aims to maintain fiscal discipline, targeting a gradual reduction of the budget deficit to between 1.8% and 2.4% of GDP in 2027. This approach reflects a balance between stimulating economic growth and ensuring sustainable public finances.Source: https://jakartaglobe.id/business/government-bets-on-private-sector-to-hit-65-growth-in-2027#google_vignette (ICE GIACARTA)
