INDONESIA LAUNCHES AUCTIONS FOR 13 NEW OIL AND GAS BLOCKS

Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has launched the auction of 13 oil and gas blocks during the IPA Convex in Tangerang, offering opportunities to both private and state-owned companies. Investors can choose between two Production Sharing Contract (PSC) schemes: the gross split model, which allows companies to retain a larger share of revenues without cost reimbursement, or the cost recovery model, where operational costs are reimbursed but with a higher government share. Additional incentives include tax benefits and compensation through the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) Fee. The bidding process has already opened, with different submission deadlines depending on the tender route, ranging from July to September 2026. The offered blocks are divided into direct offer and regular auction schemes, covering strategic areas across Indonesia such as Natuna, Makassar Strait, Kalimantan, Papua, and eastern regions. Several blocks—such as Natuna D Alpha and Sapukala—feature significant oil and gas resource potential, while others like Namori, South Tanimbar, and Jayapura hold substantial gas reserves reaching up to tens of trillions of cubic feet. The initiative aims to attract investment, streamline exploration commitments, and boost national energy production by unlocking untapped reserves across both onshore and offshore regions.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/416455/indonesia-launches-auctions-for-13-new-oil-and-gas-blocks (ICE GIACARTA)
