INDONESIA’S FOOTWEAR EXPORTS REACH IDR30.6 TRILLION IN Q1

Indonesia's footwear industry showed strong performance in early 2025, with exports reaching IDR 30.67 trillion in the first quarter—an increase of 13.8% compared to the same period in 2024. Ranked sixth globally with a 3.99% market share, the sector also grew by 6.95% and employed over 961,000 workers as of August 2024. Backed by IDR 8 trillion in new investments from 12 major companies between January and May, the industry boosted production capacity to 64.6 million pairs and created over 80,000 jobs. The Ministry of Industry is continuing efforts to strengthen trade agreements and open new markets in South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. A notable milestone is PT Selalu Cinta Indonesia’s (SCI) success in exporting Nike shoes to India, with 124,117 pairs worth IDR 32.2 billion shipped in May and a target of 227,654 pairs (IDR 54.7 billion) by September. Despite facing obstacles from India’s Quality Control Orders (QCO), which require BIS certification, Indonesia has raised the issue at the WTO and is advocating for more realistic and cooperative solutions. These developments underscore the country’s growing role in the global footwear supply chain and its strategic importance as a labor-intensive sector.Source: https://en.antaranews.com/news/359117/indonesias-footwear-exports-reach-rp306-trillion-in-q1?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=desktop&utm_campaign=editor_picks (ICE GIACARTA)
