Kazakhstan reports 1,448 on-the-job injuries, 220 deaths in 2024 – labor ministryAs many as 1,448 on-the-job injuries, including 220 fatalities, were reported in Kazakhstan in 2024, according to Minister of Labor and Social Protection Svetlana Zhakupova."In 2024, as many as 1,448 workers were injured in workplace accidents and 220 of them died. More than 445,000 work places are still categorized as hazardous or dangerous," Zhakupova told a Tuesday meeting of the government.According to her data, 15,976 workers were recognized as occupationally disabled, including 8,204 due to occupational diseases and 7,771 due to on-the-job injuries.Zhakupova reported earlier a 17% decline in on-the-job injuries and a 5% reduction in fatal accidents in the 1st quarter of 2025 compared to 2024 levels, while presenting labor policy progress to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
