EAEU to implement pilot project on electronic international transport consignment notes e-CMRThe Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission has decided to create a working group to implement a pilot project on the use of electronic international transport consignment notes e-CMR in international road cargo transport in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, the press service of the EEU reported on Tuesday."The working group will be composed of representatives of authorized bodies of the EAEU countries in the field of transport, digitalization, tax and customs regulation, as well as business, scientific organizations and industrial associations. The expert platform will be headed by Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the EAEU," the report said."Today we have taken another step towards the transition to legally binding electronic document management in road transport. The working group will determine the timing and procedure for conducting a pilot project on the use of electronic international consignment notes in the EAEU and will also work out practical issues of its implementation," Kozhoshev is quoted as saying by the press service."The main goal of the project is to ensure the practical development of the technology of cross-border exchange of electronic documents between entities of different states using digital signature mechanisms and a "trusted third party". The pilot project will help speed up the processes of obtaining and verifying transport documents, as well as reduce the costs of implementing transport, logistics and control and supervisory procedures," the EEC said.The working group is scheduled to meet in the second quarter of 2025.
