MUDDY STILETTO AWARDS: THE 'QUALITY' LEBANESE RESTAURANT NAMED THE BEST IN ESSEX AS TEAM 'DELIGHTED'
The Lebanese has been named the best restaurant in Essex - and the team behind it are "delighted". Layalina, on Billericay High Street, has won Best Essex Restaurant in the 2024 Muddy Stilettos Awards. The modern Lebanese restaurant was set against tough competition in this year’s Muddy Stilettos Awards for the best independent businesses across 28 English counties. Winners were announced on May 2. After winning, Layalina Restaurant manager Adam Beatson said: "We’re delighted, over the moon." Beatson attributed the win to the eatery’s ‘strong following of people.’ He said: "I think they trust us to provide quality every time they’re here." Layalina offers a modern Lebanese menu with Greek and Middle Eastern influences. Lunch set menus start at £22 for 2 courses when tables are booked in advance, and on weekends customers can enjoy a bottomless drinks offer for an hour and a half, subject to conditions. Their online menu includes the informative ‘Layalina Dictionary’. Read it to impress your fellow diners with historical and linguistic knowledge. Do your friends know their ‘tahini’ from their ‘tarator’? Or the meaning of the Arabic word ‘raheb’, and the French ‘bavette’? How about the Arabic word for ‘cauliflower’? The other finalists for Best Restaurant in Essex were Fête Grays Yard (Chelmsford), Pig & Whistle Restaurant (Chelmsford), The Magic Mushroom (Billericay) and The Windmill (Chatham Green).
